A full-day symposium at the Tate Modern pays tribute to the life and work of Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky, attempting to illuminate the method to his madness. Though relatively unknown to the general public, Tarkovsky has influenced scores of artists and, as of late, his work is undergoing a revival in the contemporary art scene. Tarkovsky's son Andrei Tarkovsky Jr, artist Hannah Starkey and film theorist Nathan Dunne — among numerous other academics, authors and artists — gather together to explore the filmmaker's unique legacy. Rounding out the cultural confab, the day concludes with a concert by a baroque quartet.
