Adventures in the Beetroot Field present the year's first foray into a balmy Camden afternoon. But even if the weather stinks, a sweet roster of bands and DJs ensure a crackling atmosphere: Ben Garrett's frYars lead the bill with a strange, yet warming concoction of clicky-beep laptop sounds and enigmatic indie-pop vocals; and, tasked with pumping up the party, Golden Silvers get wild with ska beats, grooved-out vocals and a few killer Prince covers. The evening then sees London MC Dels pull laid-back rhymes over Hot Chip-produced geek-tro, setting the mood for the AITBF DJs and special guests to usher in the stars.
