Art Maria Kheirkhah: The Psychology of Fear

At her solo show at Herne Hill's 198, Iran-born UK-based artist Maria Kheirkhah confronts the rise of fear in modern society resulting from the British government and media's joint obsession with terrorism and its prevention. Kheirkhah explores this idea through performance and installation that draws on the myth of Frankenstein as a metaphor for the ways in which Muslims are discriminated against. Her show does not offer an end to this fearmongering culture, but rather initiates "a debate so that the beast in all its entirety and complexity is comprehended and put to rest."
