Film Marbella International Film Festival London Screenings

Though dwarfed by its cousins in Venice and Raindance, the Marbella Film Festival has become one of Spain's biggest independent cinema happenings — and the UK, aided by its strong expat contingent, is always well represented. To drum up support for 2008's festival, which takes place in October, a compilation of previous highlights rolls into Rex for one short weekend. Saturday sees two hours of the best shorts submissions; there's also Afghan Muscles, Andreas M. Dalsgaard's documentary on bodybuilding dreams in a chaotic country. Sunday's programme includes another chance to see the five-minute films reel, as well as Nicola Scott's fantasy feature Fated and the porno "mockumentary" Hardcore.
