More Flavor: City Gem Côte

The first Côte opened in Wimbledon last August; before the rapturous reception had died down, a Soho-based second location opened in May, bringing the all-day French bistro to central London. Bankrolled by the ubiquitous Richard Caring, Côte is the brainchild of his former Strada management team. The restaurant's quality-food-at reasonable-prices ethos finds form in authentic niçoise Pissaladiere bread with reblochon and thyme (£3.50) and tasty hachis Parmentier (like cottage pie) for under a tenner — not to mention fish, pasta and a long list of desserts and well-priced wines.
