Since 1962, the City of London Festival has unfurled its teeming arts and music programme over the summer season, inhabiting indoor and outdoor venues throughout the Square Mile. Following the festival's tradition of cultural exchange, this year's theme of "romanticism" sees both India and Switzerland share the spotlight. From the former, highlights include eminent sarod player Amjad Ali Khan, offering a newly created piece accompanied by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. From the Swiss contingent, Judith Bingham employs her familiarity with the Jungfrau region of the Alps to re-trace Lord Byron's footsteps in a dramatic narrative, emphasizing that there's far more to her country than cuckoo clocks and William Tell.
