Art Andy Warhol: Celebrity Portraits

Andy Warhol surrounded himself with the stars of his time and counted many of his famous subjects as close friends. Coskun displays his celebrity portraits, including several unseen works. Portraits of Grace Jones, Joan Collins and Prince hang alongside the notorious Marilyn Monroe series, a signed Mick Jagger sequence and a mysterious self-portrait. While the subjects are engaging, the show also calls to mind the way Warhol used his material to raise his own profile, leading him to create the artist-as-celebrity archetype almost overnight.
