Art A Gothic Story

The decaying grandeur of Shoreditch Town Hall's basement makes it an appropriate venue for this dark group show. A dozen artists provide varying interpretations of Gothicism, with mixed-media pieces ranging from the shadowy shots of Hong Kong-born photographer Hedy Esmail and the knotted-string shapes of Naheed Raza to Wayne Chisnall's eerie sculptures — one of which is Sleeping Beauty Box, a twisted take on the classic fairy tale. Artist Teresa Mills curates and also shows her own work, which employs unsettling materials such as ballet shoes and stuffed rabbits.
