Dutch painter/tattoo artist Angelique Houtkamp's designs are more Amy Winehouse than David Beckham, drawing from retro motifs like swallows, hearts, roses, snakes and skulls. In her first UK exhibition, exotically monikered ladies Gigi, Fabienne and Magda ooze vintage glamour from their ruby-red lips and sleek, black curls. But the girls often have a freaky twist — the body of a panther or an ostrich, octopus legs or a completely tattooed torso. Colourful and iconic, Houtkamp's cartoonish work conjures up images of circus sideshows and burlesque: think Lost Vagueness meets Popeye.
