Tube: Bethnal Green
Exploring the ever-changing face of the trade that in east London, Tom Hunter's portraits document the varied mechants and wares of local businesses running along the stretch between Bethnal Green and central Hackney. A typical corner shop is also re-created, made in artist-led sessions by children and adults local to the region. Following Napoleon's famous declaration that Britain is "a nation of shopkeepers", this exhibition provides a fascinating perspective into the diversity of our national retail identity.
