Community spirit is alive and well in Hackney, with Clissold Park ready to take a beating today as eager Stokefest attendees descend upon its grassy fields in droves. Having undergone weeks of collaborative preparation — local residents had a strong hand in its formation — the free independent-arts festival is redolent with an all-inclusive air of populism. Surrounded by an array of caterers, art exhibitions and market stalls, the festivities kick off with DJ Russ Jones, followed by world musicians and circus performers treading the boards in the park.
