With more than £70,000 up for grabs in prize money, including the £25,000 Charles Wollaston Award, the stakes are high at the Royal Academy of Arts' annual Summer Exhibition — which has taken place since 1768. "Man-made" is this year's theme, and both established and up-and-coming artists were invited to submit any two works for selection as part of the 1,200-strong display. Deviating from conventionally sparse styles of presentation, the show teems with paintings, sculptures, prints and architectural models, all jostling for attention from judges and viewers alike.
