Film Elite Squad (2007)

Based on a true story, Elite Squad portrays the war between drug dealers and police in the slums of Rio de Janeiro. Unlike predecessors such as City of God, however, the story is told from the police's point of view rather than the dealers', and is mainly narrated by Captain Nascimento from BOPE (Special Police Operations Battalion). The captain struggles to find sanity and honesty within a corrupt and bureaucratic system, while questions are raised about just who is responsible for financing the region's illegal weapons and drug markets. Bordering on madness, Nascimento decides to quit and look for someone to replace him — understandably no easy task.
