One of Europe's most significant auteurs, Chantal Akerman makes her first appearance at a UK public gallery with this selection of pioneering films at the Camden Arts Centre. Born in Brussels, Akerman was first influenced by the films of Jean-Luc Godard as a teen; upon moving to New York in the '70s, she gleaned further inspiration from the likes of Andy Warhol and Michael Snow. Her own distinct style combines wry humour with formal experimentation across a range of formats, including documentary and narrative, all of which are represented here.
