More Flavor: Spectacle Scottish Ceilidh Club

Don the tartan — or not, as traditional highland wear is optional — and launch headfirst into Cecil Sharp House's regular Scottish Ceilidh Club evening. The event, steeped in Gaelic tradition but infused with a contemporary approach, features a live band made up of flutes, fiddles and accordions that leads the charge in the spirited style of partner dancing; for the less experienced, a caller is present to clarify the Gay Gordons from the Dashing White Sergeants. The boisterous gathering necessitates that towering Louboutins, flouncy skirts and heavy meals are best avoided — though a well-stocked bar is mercifully close to hand.
