Paul Gilroy's novel, which provides the name for this event, is also the jumping-off point for a series of performances that explore what it means to be British today. The weighty issues that the productions revolve around — diaspora, multiple cultures, a fragmented society — highlight the cultural mish-mash that is modern-day British society. Asian Dub Foundation's charitable wing takes on a sponsorship role for the youth-heavy collection of shows, seeking to promote diversity and pull away from the white, middle-class, West End-centric model of theatre and music. – Oliver Spall
