Music: Global I Am a Kamura

Former Frank Chickens diva Atsuko Kamura leads I Am a Kamura at Cafe OTO this evening. The recently unveiled venue — oto meaning "noise" or "sound" in Japanese — endeavours to bridge the gap between art and music, showcasing artists sitting pretty on the frontiers of creativity. Kamura, who relocated to London from Tokyo and currently co-presents Resonance Radio's Onkyodo, offers an array of '30s Chinese ballads, Japanese folk songs and self-penned material. Backed by a four-piece band, she flaunts her experienced stage theatrics and impulsive prediliction for ad-libbing, making for what's sure to be a jubilantly peculiar performance.
