If you like soulful female voices, then Nneka ought to provide a most moving discovery. The Nigerian-born chanteuse grew up in the oil city of Warri before moving to Germany at age 19. Her promising 2006 debut LP, Victim of Truth, straddled the two continents, taking in trip-hop, soul, jazz, reggae, indie and African rhythms. Now Nneka's touring Europe to show off August's new album No Longer At Ease. In answer to the crime and corruption of the Nigerian Delta, each heartfelt song is delivered in Nneka's haunting, husky tones.
