Art Susan Aldworth: Scribing the Soul

Susan Aldworth's new show at Bethnal Green's Transition Gallery sees her encapsulating the essence of being in material form. After observing her brain on a monitor while undergoing a brain scan, Aldworth dedicated her art to exploring the workings of the mind; based on research with scientists and medics and collaboration with other artists, her creative response to gray matter has become as broad as the range of mediums she employs — from etching and printmaking to animation and installation. Shedding new light on the mystery of human consciousness, this show is the culmination of seven years of Aldworth's work, including her residency at the Gordon Museum of pathology.
