Demure Tyrolean singer Tanja Frinta and her cosmopolitan band support the release of their debut album, Grass Is Singing, with a gig at North African den Momo. Frinta's lilting vocals anchor a pan-European sound influenced by traditional Italian ballads, chic Parisian chansons and gypsy folk; the rest of Lonely Drifter Karen's members span the continent as well, with Spain's Marc Meliá Sobrevias on piano and Italian Giorgio Menossi tapping out lo-fi percussion. LDK's subtle songs don't scream for attention, but rather traffic in moments of quiet intensity that charm listeners, then hold them rapt.
