He's the enigmatic actor who made household names out of iconic characters like Dirty Harry, Josey Wales and Il Buono, but Clint Eastwood is equally at ease behind the camera — he has twice picked up the Oscar for Best Director. This series focuses on the septuagenarian's outstanding directorial achievements, from 1971 thriller Play Misty for Me to 1988's jazz biopic Bird, starring Forest Whitaker as saxophonist Charlie Parker. Also screened are Pale Rider, which takes place in California during the Gold Rush, and Heartbreak Ridge, starring Eastwood as a career military man who struggles with life during peacetime.
