Like a roll call of all persons cool in '60s and '70s America, this short but perfectly formed series of documentaries kicks off with two 2007 features: James Crump's Black, White + Gray, which explores the relationship between photographer Robert Mapplethorpe and mentor Sam Wagstaff; and Morgan Neville's Jeff Bridges-narrated study of LA's influential Ferus Gallery, The Cool School. The two remaining films both take Andy Warhol as a jumping-off point — in A Walk into the Sea, Esther Robinson investigates the unexplained disappearance of Danny Williams, her uncle and Warhol's lover, while Factory photographer Edo Bertoglio documents his experiences and encounters in Face Addict.
