The entertainment veers decidedly leftfield at this year's Shoreditch Festival. Across the coming days, a carte du jour of east London's finest invades the streets, buildings and green spaces to showcase this year's themes of art and sport. Launching the event in Shoreditch Park, Welcome to the World offers up a platter of sports tournaments and tea dances, with Tour de Hackney prolonging the follies the following day with a bicycle ballet, extreme cycling and guided tours throughout the borough. Later in the week, the English National Ballet graces the park's stage, and as a grand finale, Hoxton Street hosts a 1948-inspired shindig in honour of the looming Olympics.
