Inspired by the images adorning the covers of pulp-fiction novels, the tropes of film noir and the buxom ladies of Russ Meyer films, Pascal Rousson's latest installation mashes together high and low art. But more notable is its unique form, which resembles a small house constructed from signs, ephemera and paintings that imitate classic works. The true message of the Swiss/French artist's eclectic multimedia piece is held in its interior — viewers enter the space and discover that the wooden backs of the canvases lay bare the superficial nature of contemporary art.
