In her first solo exhibition, Romance Is Dead! Long Live Romance! artist Isabelle Graeff brings together the obscene and the commonplace in a provocative display of photographic collages. Exploring the dense — and readily accessible — world of Internet pornography, Graeff flips its context by drawing comparison to the Romantic artworks of Goya and the rococo style of Fragonard and Boucher. Tracing a lineage from the current climate of pixelated females to the controversial reclining nudes of days gone by, Graeff comments on the routine acceptance of today's images.
