Film: Festival Portobello Film Festival

The Portobello Film Festival is mainstream film's wayward sibling, having offered inimitable independent cinema in W10 since '96. This evening's opening gala features musical short The Town that Boars Me (from fashion photographer Ben Charles Edwards), starring scenesters Kelly Osbourne and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The positively heaving schedule for the ensuing 17 days features documentaries and animations including the world premiere of Cash and Curry, a panel discussion on the blood, sweat and trauma involved in writing screenplays — and, to wrap up the proceedings, an awards ceremony celebrating the best in show.
