Electronic-arts pioneer Jan St Werner's Noise Room explores the concept of a simulated listening environment. The various compositions on offer are played on an all-encompassing surround-sound system and have been created by the likes of Black Dice, Stereolab, Jeff Carey, Sun OK Papi K.O. and Adam Butler, as well as Werner's own project, German collective Mouse on Mars. As the former artistic director for Steim — an Amsterdam-based institute for electronic-music development — Werner draws from his in-depth know-how to portray the evolution of musical structure.
