Three women and one man make up this year's shortlist for the traditionally controversial contemporary art prize. A quick rundown of the final four: installationist Runa Islam cites Ingmar Bergman as one of her influences and is probably best known for her political interpretation of the exit sign. Cathy Wilkes's sculptures are constructed from everyday objects, such as toothbrushes and pushchairs, and question traditional female roles. Goshka Macuga is as much curator as artist, displaying unusual collections of objects to intriguing effect. Finally, Mark Leckey's video works draw on popular cultural references, including Viz magazine and The Simpsons.
