Dredging up more River Thames oddities than usual, Illuminate Productions launch Drift 08. Featuring an array of artworks placed strategically in and around the water between Blackfriars Bridge and Tower Bridge, the exhibition brings together designers and engineers for a spectacle of light displays, painted buoys and sound installations. Margaret Evangeline's interactive piece Saved from Drowning mirrors the watchful audience and ebbs with the tide in sombre observation of those drowned in the river, while Julien Berthier's Love-Love is a ship that sails in mid-sink. The nonprofit Illuminate, dedicated to bringing art into unusual environments, here explores uncharted exhibition space and showcases perspectives that are fresh for both creators and spectators.
