From its Dusty Limits-hosted life-drawing challenge to gay bingo with lip-syncer Jonny Woo, boutique shindig Gold '08 offers unconventional entertainment for all. Kicking off today in Shoreditch, the arts-and-music gala features Orange Prize winner Linda Grant leading a discussion on fashion in literature, while elsewhere, Travis Elborough and Emma Pettit trawl through the weird, wonderful musical oddities in the Vinyl Countdown. The festival's finest moment, however, may be Susie Boyt's Tea with Dorothy (an exploration of her fixation with Judy Garland) which sees all Gold '08 stages halt at 4pm for a generous serving of afternoon tea.
