Take the opportunity to hear the next Callas or Pavarotti at this double whammy from the BYO (a great acronym, we must say). First up is Puccini's La Rondine (The Swallow) — often called "a poor man's La Traviata" because of plot similarities — a gently comic tale of romance, disguise, and unsavoury history in 19th-century Paris. In complete contrast, the second opera is a modern work by British composer Jonathan Dove. Flight, set among the hustle and bustle of an airport on a single day, was first performed in 1998, but receives its London premiere during this run.
