Art Michael Müller: Caoutchouc

Presenting an aesthetically minimalist series of artworks, Michael Müller's solo exhibition Caoutchouc launches today at Mummery + Schnelle. Utilising a stark cartographic style in addition to sparingly placed block prints of text, the German-born artist explores the seemingly haphazard link between fish, plants and the naturally derived rubber caoutchouc. Inspired by the artist's interest in Buddhist philosophies, the austere array of portraits and sculptures demonstrates an eye that perceives both reality and whimsy. From installations featuring feathered fishing lines to fins drawn onto the Financial Times, Müller's efforts draw a fresh parallel between mankind and the marine that doesn't stem from the local chippie.
