The Donmar's star-studded West End season continues apace with Yukio Mishima's new production. Madame de Sade tells the story of the infamous Marquis from the perspective of the significant women in his life: his wife Renee, her sister and his mother-in-law. Dame Judi Dench plays the latter, Madame de Montreuil, who disapproves of her daughter's devotion to a husband incarcerated for his debauched lifestyle. Fellow Bond-film veteran Rosamund Pike joins Dench on stage as the eponymous wronged wife. With a supporting cast featuring Frances Barber, this is set to be one of the year's theatrical highlights.
