Antony Gormley and Yinka Shonibare are the latest artists taking part in the ongoing project to populate the previously empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, taking over from Thomas Schutte's Hotel for Birds. (The two artists were controversially selected from a shortlist that included Tracey Emin.) Gormley's One and Other, a commentary on the individual within society, involves 2,400 volunteers perching on the Plinth for an hour at a time. Shonibare celebrates Britain's ethnic diversity through the richly-coloured textiles of Nelson's Ship in a Bottle.
