The Chap, the periodical for cool fogies, hosts a summer sports day in Bedford Square Gardens dedicated to gentlemanly pursuits with the minimum of physical exertion. Visitors are encouraged to dust off their great-grandparents' togs (the more pre-WW2, the better) and prepare to drink period cocktails and food in a celebration of times when pipe smoking and cravattes were the epitome of panache. Activities include the cucumber sandwich discus (self-explanatory); moustache wrestling (attempting to pluck a single hair from each other's face); umbrella jousting; and the timeless "bounders", where men vie to receive the most face-reddening slap by caddishly insulting the ladies present.
