Restaurants are dead, according to the number of chefs turning their kitchen tables into Supper Clubs. But while innovators such as Nuno Mendes may have turned intimate dining (predominantly with food bloggers and stock brokers) into opera, conversation among newly mets can become stilted. The solution offered by Number 68 Project, which runs twice a month until late June at the Old Boys Club in Dalston, is for each week's chef to conceive a four-to-seven course menu accompanied by wine and performance. So, for example, on 9 April Natasha Solomons reads from her new book Mr. Rosenblum’s List while Caroline Hobkinson creates dishes to evoke and accompany memorable passages.
