“Even if you've only got a passing interest in surrealism, this is an absolute must. Works by all the big hitters — Dali, Duchamp, Magritte — are set alongside the less obvious, but equally quirky, art of the likes of Louise Bourgeois and Rem Koolhaas. So far, so any old surrealist exhibition, but what sets The Surreal House apart is the environment: a site-specific labyrinthine arrangement of rooms designed by architects-of-the-moment Carmody Groarke. The spooky setting serves to enhance the bizarre, witty and often disturbing art on display.”
