It's a little-known fact that bibliophile destination Cecil Court, a Victorian street tucked away between Charing Cross Road and St Martin's Lane, was once the centre of the British film industry and known as Flicker Alley. In among the antiquarian bookshops sits Tenderpixel Gallery, which is converted into a cinema for this commemorative festival. Screenings include a 1903 BFI-restored version of Alice in Wonderland, with live piano accompaniment by John Sweeney. Also on offer are experimental short works from up-and-coming British filmmakers, themed shop window displays and impromptu micro-performances throughout the day from the Short Film Movement.
