There's a lot more to punk than style — after all, safety pins and mohawks were really just window dressing to the movement's underlying ethos. While the '70s explosion of music and slamming bodies was to some extent about angst and aggression, its real achievement was an ability to defy convention and stretch the bounds of cultural construction. In group show Immigrant Punk, perceptions of the movement merge with reflections on the immigrant experience — mapping intersecting aspects, like alienation and alternative-community building, with ideas of cultural maintenance and merging.
