California native Mark Dutcher utilizes Shakespeare as a thematic backdrop, adding a tinge of the macabre to his lavish, effervescent paintings of multi-colored circles, graffiti-like sprawls, and roughly hewn patterns. A slight departure from the surrealistic imagery of his past work, Dutcher's new pieces leave the viewer with a feeling that it's the artist's world — we're just here to look and learn.
