Mark Moore Gallery says…

British artist Kim Rugg distills printed objects to their barest essentials by cutting them up and reconfiguring. For her well-known newspaper works, Rugg preserves the layout and font, but transforms the text into strings of repeating letters. In her US debut, Rugg also gets creative with a series of stamped envelopes, which she subtly manipulates to produce over-large, unorthodox stamps. In the project room, young Japanese artist Kenichi Yokono displays his red-and-white woodblock images, in which he creates surreal landscapes from natural elements, cartoon imagery, and corporate iconography. Kenichi's work takes shape on several emblems, skateboard designs, and a folding screen.
