It's been nearly four years since desertification precipitated a tragic conflict in Sudan. According to some estimates, to date as many as 450,000 Fur, Zaghawa, and Massaleit people have been directly and indirectly killed, and nearly 2.5 million displaced, by Janjaweed and Sudanese military forces. Darfur Now documents the experiences of six witnesses to the violence and devastation in Darfur, including actor Don Cheadle, who visited the region in 2005. The conflict is the first to be officially deemed a genocide by the US government while still ongoing. Perhaps this film will inspire more people to finally take action.
