Combining young Angelenos' love of hip-hop with do-gooding, the ninth edition of the annual Thanksgivends benefit concert moves to the Vanguard. The roster is overflowing with surprise MCs, drummers, DJs, and vocalists culled from the ranks of Kajmere Sound, Stones Throw, Ubiquity, Afro Funke', Transit Events, Art Don't Sleep, Beat Junkies, and a host of other local, progressive-minded crews. As always, proceeds benefit the Mar Vista Family Center, a west-side youth center for education and community leadership. In addition, the show is held in the memory of LA's much-missed maestro, the late DJ Dusk.
