Let the absinthe, eggnog, and blood flow at Art/Works Theater in Hollywood, as the Grand Guignol Theatre Company presents A Very Grand Guignol Christmas. From 1897 to 1962, Paris' Le Thêatre du Grand-Guignol was known as the "theater of laughter and terror." (Back then, the titillating, violent performances were considered radical enough to necessitate an in-house doctor, who would revive audience members who fainted during particularly grisly moments.) The holiday-themed extravaganza features elaborate melodrama, puppets, and more eye-gouging, throat-slashing chaos than could ever fit under one tree.
