Carole Caroompas' fantastically imaginative paintings and drawings are a melting pot of pop-culture imagery. For Caroompas' latest collection at Western Project, she counts films by Brian de Palma and John Huston among the references she weaves into eye-dazzling Navajo rugs. The Los Angeles-based artist has previously exhibited her boundary-blowing, post-industrial, craft-based work at the Whitney, LACMA, and Washington, DC's Corcoran Gallery.
