We've entered the John Waters age. A Broadway musical adaptation of Hairspray and a subsequent cinematic "re-adaptation" has made the legendary Baltimorean a household name. (Apparently, Middle America has forgotten that this the same man directed gross-out classics like Pink Flamingos and Desperate Living.) Now, La Jolla Playhouse presents a new stage adaptation of another (relatively) family-friendly Waters movie: Cry-Baby. The classic 1990 film musical, starring Johnny Depp, was tailor-made for the stage. This is your chance to hear "Teardrops Are Falling" live, in a production that may leave you weeping — with laughter.
