Clive Barker is known for creating some pretty frightening characters — Candyman, Pinhead, and the army of monsters in Nightbreed. The script he submitted for the remake of Gojira, the original Godzilla movie, was deemed too dark and disturbing by Toho Studios. Of course, he's also done some milder work of late, such as his illustrated young-adult Abarat series of novels. The expressive paintings and drawings exhibited at Bert Green are continuations of Barker's Abarat universe, which, while not as disturbed as his previous work, reflect his dark and distinctive vision.
