While it's still very much a car company, Scion makes a foray into independent film with Easy Ten, giving select young filmmakers a modest budget. Products of the venture screened tonight include 23 Short Films by David Choe and Pete Glover, which plays with time and perspective; Chris Cruse's Norman, about a man addicted to airline travel; and Roger Gastmans' The Pigeon Mumbler, a film about the urban pastime of pigeon handling. Also on hand, Monihan Monihan's La Voz De Los Silenciados chronicles the trials of a young, deaf-mute woman lured from her Guatemalan village to the US by the false promises of sign-language school.
