Venice's premier art space reminds us that sculpture can be one of the most thrilling creative media with the debut of Richard Deacon's Dead Leg, a work on which he collaborated with technical maestro Matthew Perry (not to be confused with the actor). Constructed out of entwined strips of oak and stainless steel, its proportions are so massive that it literally fills the room with its vivacious monumentality. The piece stands as a three-dimensional gesture whose fluidity and grace is absolutely sublime.
