Sweet, steel-spined folk-pop singer Jesca Hoop takes us inside her gypsy psyche, spinning tales of triumph and sorrow from her Tom Waits-endorsed debut, Kismet. A one-woman Tegan & Sara (seriously, when she doubles her vocals, she sounds strikingly similar), Hoop diverges from her indie-pop peers by venturing into cabaret, girly '80s pop, string-laden ballads, dub, and even a bit a of freaky folk. Show up early to catch the evening's supporting act, Lissie — a veteran of the lo-fi DIY circuit, she fits nicely on a bill of future female iconoclasts.
